Where do you stash your media?

Now that you’ve gone through your entire CD collection and ripped everything, what do you do with the media? And no, I don’t mean bringing all your discs down to the local music store and selling everything used to pay for an iPod. I’m interested in sealed long term archival storage since, for the most part, I probably won’t be touching the master discs again once they’ve been ripped.

Over the course of the past few weeks I ripped around 500 CDs in the background while working on other tasks. After ripping, each CD was labeled with the bit rate and format that was used to encode it. The discs were then moved into medium sized high tech genuine cardboard boxes to be stacked in the closet.

My specific question is, what is the best inexpensive way to stash all of your CDs away and keep them safe? I’m not talking about expensive archival vacuum storage or $300 DJ cases (which I’ve found plenty of); just sealable plastic bins that CDs actually fit into. Virtually all bins available at chain stores are slightly trapezoidal in shape with rounded edges so CDs won’t stack properly in them. I’d like to find nice covered bins so I can move everything into the basement and not worry about the Summer humidity.
