Robert issues a rebuttal…

Robert has issued a rebuttal on quickeasysolution.com stating that he was not responsible for forging return addresses in the batch of spams advertising his Web sites. He also claims that the credit card system on his Web site is a legitimate service being run through his ecommerce gateway and not a scam. I’d love to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the pages his ordering system directs customers to are not SSL-secured even though the text on the page claims that the connection is encrypted.

So, the plot thickens. Robert has not returned any of my e-mails or voicemail messages and refused to talk to me when I showed up in person. I gave him a chance to set the record straight but got no response.

Robert, if you’re reading this, I’d love to talk to you in person and give you the chance to set things straight.

After seeing that site I must say that the comment “few fries short of a Happy Meal” seem very correct. Who knows thos, maybe everybody is out to get this guy, but if they are he should know fighting it is probably useless, it just makes him look alot worse.

I got slammed with tons of bounce messages this weekend from someone using one of my domains to send spam. I am blinded by fury with this practice, as the domain is for my side business, and some people are stupid enough to actually believe that the email comes from birchbarkwriting.com and they block my domain. I haven’t received a copy of the email in question and the bounce notices don’t include enough information for me to figure out who sent the email (i.e. no content, no links). Besides, what’s a small-time site owner going to be able to do to them on a $0 budget, anyway?

Try checking Google News for postings to news.admin.net-abuse.sightings or some of the other spam tracking newsgroups:

    http://groups.google.com/groups?q=birchbarkwriting.com

Admins will usually post spam to these newsgroups to help antispam filters. Fortunately, most antispam software vendors are smart enough to ignore the From: and use heuristics on the body text and the domain that’s getting advertised. Keep checking the above URL every day for about a week…chances are someone will report the spam eventually.

That’s how I got copies of the spams that forged inertramblings.com:
